Tasting Notes
The term "Tall Poppy" is a begrudging compliment to someone who is head and shoulders above the rest. This particular bottling is the 11th vintage of Tall Poppy produced in 38 years of winemaking. The 2016 vintage is comprised of several blocks of the Pommard clone from our estate. Savor this special, age-worthy wine as our finest representation of YVV terroir: rich, dense, structured, yet soft and complex.
Black cherry, forest floor, smoked meats, chocolate, spice, black currant, rich, velvety texture.

“This has a wealth of fresh, brambly berries with some chocolate notes, too. Ripe and juicy, very attractive and plush on the palate. Straight-up, delicious pinot."

“Shimmering red. Ripe red berries, potpourri, vanilla and a hint of succulent flowers on the perfumed nose, which is sharpened by a smoky mineral quality. Sappy and energetic on the palate, offering lively, spice-tinged cherry, raspberry and candied rose flavors and a hint of star anise. Deepens with air and finishes long and silky, showing solid thrust, even tannins and repeating florality."
Alder Yarrow, Vinography
“Medium garnet in color, this wine smells of forest floor and raspberries. In the mouth, beautifully silky flavors of raspberry and redcurrant have a wonderful lift and brightness thanks to excellent acidity. The faintest wisp of tannins lingers in the finish along with notes of dried herbs and pine duff."
